World Bank Prexy Unveils “Economic Package” for Salone

World Bank Group President Dr Jim Yong Kim yesterday unveiled “a comprehensive economic recovery package” for Sierra Leone. The economic recovery package will be implemented in two years instead of three, and will cover 5 areas. The five areas are Ebola, agriculture, basic infrastructure (such as urban services and access to electricity), finance for businesses, and public financial management.

 

SLRA Inspects Road Construction

Sierra Leone Roads Authority over the weekend inspected the Kabala township and the Kono city roads. The Acting Director General of the SierraLeone roads authority Abdul Aziz Kamara said that the visit was particularly meant for the rehabilitation of township roads in Kono and Kabala. They were satisfied with the roads and the contractor gave a time line for the end of construction. For the Kabala road, the contractor said it will be completed by February 2015 and in Kono it will be completed in June 2015. The Acting Director-General stated that they are satisfied with what we saw in terms of progress and performance, but in Kono, they need to do more, which is why the work will take longer there.

 

MPs Approve Elvis Kargbo, Esq.

 

The House of Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone approved Presidential Nominee for Chairman of Sierra Leone Airports Authority Board: Elvis Kargbo, Esq., who is a renowned lawyer. He was approved alongside five other Presidential Nominees for other parastatals.  

 

 

 

State Lottery Donates to St. George the 6th Home

In continuation of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the only Sierra Leonean owned and managed betting and lottery company, Sierra Leone State Lottery (SLSL) Limited has presented a cheque of Ten Million Leones (Le10, 000,000) to the Society for the Welfare of the Aged for salaries and feeding of inmates at Saint George the 6th Home, Grafton.
