A group of HIV-positive individuals who are involved in Wellbody's HIV home-based care and support program recently received a national grant to start their own cooperative bakery near our clinic.

Hannah Sesay, a 55 year old patient in Wellbody's HIV program, tells her story.

Arriving late at night somewhere outside Freetown, a group of Sierra Leonean soldiers, weary from the 10-hour drive from their barracks in Kono district, dismount from the back of the army truck that carried them this far. A single book of matches is passed around as each one lights up their last cigarette before heading in.

Agnes used to work in the village as a traditional healer. She was recruited by Wellbody Alliance, given trainings, and transitioned to her current role as a CHW.

Patricia Alpha, age 19, is one of the senior members of PEPTOK. Now with 2 years of involvement under her belt, Patricia is helping to train the next group of PEPTOK advocates.

In addition to group songs, Manjama's staff uses props to teach about nutrition and family planning, disease prevention and breastfeeding. And these low-cost methods appear to be working.
